5/8 The Ts are gone

I believe the SD bite is over. Not a ball of bait to be found the last two trips and all the talk on the radio today was from the newport area with jumpers, bait balls and hookups.

Launched at 12:30 and fished until 6:30 thru the big slack for nothing on the meter and less on the hooks.

Time to run to cat and fish with Joe.

That's not good news!

On the bright side my buddy got a 32# biscuit yesterday 4PM on the iron anchored up off Children's Pool, and and a 10# YT. Acres and acres of smelt puddling on the surface inside.

I know that there is a lot of action happening off of Oceanside but, I wouldn't give up on LJ area yet. Saturday I fished LJ canyon out to about the 500' depth with the same results (nada). In the early afternoon I made a run a little further outside and south (almost straight off of Crystal pier) and in about 750' of water we found a lot of mackerel and birds.

Maybe worth lookin a little futher off the beach.

I'm sure there are a few fish around, but the area we typically find them in is viod of bait and they won't stay there very long without an easy meal to be had.

Maybe it's time to widen the circle and take a chance some virgin areas.
