My clutch finally came in that was on back order. I had to make a trip to the island to test the boat before I went on vacation. (At least that’s what I told the wife) Fish the island Friday for two yellowtail one monster that went 39.8lbs and the biggest yellow I have ever caught. I had to wait to post the picture because I forgot my digital and all I had was a little shitty disposable that I keep on the boat

After a great trip to Santa Barbra with the family we got back out on the water Wednesday night. The plan was to run to cat make bait, jump over to SCI for some yellowtail and then to the fly for some longfins. The ride over to cat was bumpy and after talking to a couple of sport boat friends returning for SCI we decided to fish cat only. We found the squid and had a full float, made our bait and then started putting lines in the water with a min of the first line in the water we had seabass going. Shortly after gray the yellows showed up. We fished the morning bite then went on the hunt for a few points. We Ran over to the Avalon bank and put out the bait-o-matics and a couple rapalas . The mackerel we made during the night where huge so if we were going to get one it was going to be big. Man was I wrong. This little mako went full speed on all the jigs. The bait was so big he could only eat half the bait and wouldn’t hook himself. Then he went after the rapala and now we have 50 more points. What a great day on the water.
