Getting ready for Seabass

Gearing up for the seabass season. Purchased a 2000 watt Honda Generator, a 400 watt metal halide ,looking for suggestions on mounting opions. What are your setups. I quess you can say I am a Seabass novice. It's a short ride from Marina Del Rey to the West end of Catalina. Do I need to invest in underwater lights, crowder ?????

Most rig up a mount for the light that slides into a pole holder. And highly recommend a crowder, or you'll just be watching the pretty squid instead of catching them.

A crowder sure makes it easy on a full float, then you can get it done and get some sleep. The 400 MH light is great but you might also get a 400-500 watt Halogen on a dimmer switch for those touchy nights the squid like to stay just out of reach. We dim the lights that are mounted on PVC pipes keyed to the gunnel rod holders and sometimes they come right up to the side of the boat. You'll love that 2000W Honda, they are very quiet. Be sure to have white glow, pink, and yellow squid jigs on board, sometimes one color is better than others.

I got the same set up and mounted the fixture using starboard to a mag mount. The rod holder mount used for BBQ's. Sticks right in the forward rod holder on the starboard side. When using the generator, make sure the exhaust doesn't work it's way into your cabin. You don't want to fall victim to carbondioxide poisioning.
