Here are some more pictures for anybody interested. It is getting real close to completion now - maybe sea trial next week or the week after! Can't wait. Tony Athen's and his crew in Oxnard at Seaboard Marine are great - real professionals.

Test fire - she runs great! --I had them put in soundproofing throughout the engine compartment and with this engine design you can hardly hear anything!

I'll post more after the sea trial.

Everything looks fabulous Charlie, can't wait to see what she runs like. TA is probably the only other certified shop I'd ever take my boat to other than Blackman's.

Do you have a muffler or just an exhaust straightpipe?

I'm curious to see how your sound insulation wears over time, if it stays intact or if it absorbs everything it comes in contact with and deteriorates.

Clarley,

She looks great. I'm excited for you. It was really great re-powering Tenacious so I know how it feels. You'll be out there just in time for some great Spring/Summer fishing.

Thanks! Yea I am anxious to see how the soundproofing holds up too ...........doesn't look to be real durable....works great though ...guess I will have to wait and see how it holds up. Exhaust is fitted with a muffler unlike previous engine which was essentially a straight pipe . Here is a picture of muffler.

Looks Great, I bet it's going to haul ass too. Make sure you watch that sound proofing close. It has to be coast gaurd approved. if it starts to absorb oil it can catch fire. I had it happed on my skipjack. I almost recived a ticket after I was towed in. I pulled the firefighter card and got out of it.

Charley.
Very nice. Do you have a picture of the exhaust hose where it turns and enters the muffler? If not, Did they use an 90 degree elbow?

Can't wait to see the speed numbers on this setup. It should be a fastest inboard.

Thanks Bob

The reason I asked about mufflers is on a few older Blackmans with Yanmars the absence of a muffler and/or "Y" in the exhaust line has led to premature turbo failure in a few boats. The "Y" would redirect water flowing backwards up the pipe and keep it from going into the turbo while the motor was off while drifting. The straight pipe models had alot of problems.

Through the bulkhead and into the muffler then out the back

Charlie.

Thanks for the pictures. That was a good way to run the muffler and support the weight. I put a muffler on my setup and it is functional, quiet and prevents water from running up the exhaust pipe. My muffler has straight ends. I like the 90 degree turn on yours. It saves space. Did Tony modify it or get it from Vernay that way?

Thanks. Bob

Have you ran the boat yet? W need speed data.

Thanks - I am not sure if Tony modified the muffler or not. I will ask him when we sea trial which hopefully be this next Saturday. Been delayed because I have been traveling for work and have another couple of weeks to do towards the end of this month. Just when the boat gets finished - damn. I will post pictures and report of sea trial. Should haul ass.

Charlie.

How is the project going. Tony posted it on boat diesel and he wanted to take pitch off the wheel? Any updates?
