Has anybody removed the nut that holds the capstan on the stock '85 26Billfisher.I'm trying to remove the housing off the Powerwinch model412.The side set screws are movable OK but the 25mm nut holding the capstan is rusted on.The wench has been working fine, just trying to srvice it.Is the nut right or left handed? Presently soaking it with WD40.Thanks. kevin

My baseplate rusted to the point that when I was pulling anchor, the whole thing pulled out. I trashed the unit a couple years ago. If I remember correctly the bolt was a standard counter clockwise to loosen.

This is a detailed shot of the bottom rusted out portion I am trying to fix or replace. Finally got my Winless apart, It's from 1985 Power Winch model #412. As you can see half of the frame where 1 of 2 attaching bolts goes through is rusted away. Is there a salvage location for this winless to get a replacement frame (the box-like steel structure that the gears are attached to that is rusted away)? The company no longer makes or has parts for the model 412. Only two large bolts secure it to the deck and with this large segment rusted away only one bolt was holding it. If I can't get a part I'm considering having a plate welded on.

Looks just like mine when I tossed it a few years back. I had the same thought as you about welding a plate to the bottom but decided to replace the whole thing. When you weld a plate to it you might get some warping from the heat that could cause the gears to not mesh corectly.
Nothing to lose at this point, weld on a plate and see how she works.

It may be a long shot, but Minneys in Newport Beach may have one.
Good luck.

Powerwinch model 412 anchor windlass. Hoist long anchor lines easily with this windlass. Or use it as a "cat head" to pull a chain fall or other block and tackle.
12VDC Ready to mount, has switch on top.
