The bay made me work for it today. All the usual spots we void of bait and even less halibut.

Worked the inner half of the bay on the outgoing tide with a nice south breeze to help push me along. Only scratched out 2 short halibut from that area between 7am and 11 am when the tide started to shift.

Moved to the outer half of the bay to work the incoming tide for one more short by 1 pm. By now I'm frustrated and take a chance and move in tight to one of the navy's security zones. The guy was cool about me fishing there but shadowed me the whole time.

Turned out to be the right move as I pulled 7 shorts, a 22" and 24" fish out of a 100 X 40 yard area in less than an hour. Most of the fish had mud on the bellies so they weren't actively feeding, I just got luck and found the spot the were holding up in.
