I have been doing some remodeling of my Outerbanks and saw some black copper wires when working on the deck lights. One deck light had the ground burnt or overheated at some time. Figured that I should replace both deck lights since they are probably about 10 years old. Cut bac to where the copper was bright and clean. Anybody have some preferance on brand, wattage and type of elements.? Trying to get something that might not use a lot af amps. Looks like #14 wire feeding 2 deck lights. Not sure of the wattage but they are stamped SW on rectanle shape lense. All suggestiions welcome.

Think about going LED if you want to get the power consumption down.

I replaced all my bulbs with LED bulbs and got my lighting load down to 1.5 amps. Some of the standard bulbs you can buy, but the odd balls like the spreader lights I had to make my own.

Here is a link to a site that has all kinds of high dollar LED lights. http://www.magnalight.com/c-140-led-light-bar.aspx?gclid=CKuv6r6Q158CFRMhDQod0XxX8Q

Josh:

Did you go with one or did you use a pair?

Mike,
Went with two super, low amp draw. The guy who sells them is super good about replacing parts if they should fail.
