Pulled the Patron out for it's annual maintenance, including bottom and outdrive paint and all fluids and filters. With Volvo's price increase the first of the year, I am thinking of alternatives. What do you guys run?

Baldwin for oil and fuel. Probably Wix for air but only if it needs replacing.

I had Napa cross reference mine when I saw what Yanmar wanted for the fuel filter. It turned out to be about 1/4 the price and it is made by Wix not sure if the Volvo #'s will cross over but cant see why not.

I switched to a K&N air filter and run Wix, Baldwin for fuel and a Fram for the oil.

Wix has a great cross reference search. it's half way down on the left side of http://www.wixfilters.com/

For Baldwin's cross reference, move the mouse over e-cataloge and you will see the cross reference tab. http://www.baldwinfilter.com/

Frams cross reference works about the same. Second box down on the left of their page. http://www.framcatalog.com/Application.aspx?b=F

Volvo oil 471034 = Wix 51596 = Baldwin B447 = Fram PH3306A

Volvo fuel 3588380 I use a Wix 33373 or Baldwin BF587 or BF587D

Mike,

Not sure what motor you guys are talking about. A,B,D or P. I have the 41A and am have been using the Volvo #3840335 fuel filter that doesn't seem to cross with either Baldwin or Wix. Not sure if Volvo used the same fuel filter attachment for all the 41's. Tired of paying the high prices. Any info on this would be appreciated

Cheers, Zack

The 3840335 filter resently replaced the 860874 filter. I put that number in the Wix site and came up with #33472. That's a 14 micron filter with drain, 16mmX1.5mm thread, rated for 8-10 GPM.

The 33373 I use on my AQAD40 is a 10 micron, rated at 6-8 GPM

Mike

Once you decide on a filter, check the prices at rockauto.com. The Wix 33472 is $11.06 there.

The PATRON has a 41P. I am going to make the switch away from Volvo.

Thanks Everyone

Oil filter is the same, I would go with the the Wix 33472 for fuel because it's rated at 8-10 GMP vs the 6-8 GMP filter I use on the 150HP engine.

The K&N filter is cleanable and will last for years. Finding one that replaces the round Volvo filter for the 41s will be the hard part. Take a picture of your filter and give me the OD, ID and how tall it is and I'll see what I can come up with.

Found some dimensions for the 41 air filter and K&N doesn't have an exact filter to replace it. They make filters in every size and shape, so I'm sure you could replace the filter housing with something they make.

I’ve been thinking about changing the primary fuel filters on the Riley. The mains are 330HP Cummins 1996 6BTA5.9-M3 and the generator is a Northern Lights M643. I’m using Luberfiner 2000C on both. The generator came with a Luberfiner 2220C but it’s easier to carry the same thing in spares for all three engines. Any thoughts?
