Started outside and above the 390 for 2 fish by 7am. Some boats claimed to be in fish a few mile east of the high spot so altered course for the 04 over 44 area. We picked off one more on the troll on our way over the zone.
By the time we reached 04 over 44 there were 20 boats in the area with no one doing much. From there we pointed it Southeast and ran into an area (02 over 42) that has several paddies in it. Not being very interested in rat yellow we trolled by 3 before spotting one with some birds working off to the side of it. Just as we reached it the jigs go off and we turn this into a 5 Albacore stop.
We box the area for an hour with no more fish to show for our efforts. We could see fish pudding around the kelps but couldn't get them to go. By 11 am we start getting discouraged and point it north. At 12:30, half way between the 390 and the 371 I call it a day and climb down to reel in the jigs. Just as I his the deck 2 jigs go off and it turns into our best stop with 7 fish to round out our limits.
Troll small jigs, most fish in the #15-#18 range with one exception.
