Hi All,
I was all set to take the boat on its first fishing trip. 2.5 years of rebuilding, repairing and replacing almost everything on the boat and Saturday was going to be an actual fishing trip instead of a shakedown run.
But of course, being a boat got in the way.
As I checked over everything prior to hooking up I notice a drop of oil on the skeg. There was also some oil trailing along underneath the props (new props).
I had the drive off about a year ago and had it laying on its side, vertical etc and didn't have a drop anywhere but go figure.
How tough is the seal replacement if you don't have the fifteen special tools that is referenced in the Volvo book?
I have a slide hammer and a press.
I know that Joe told me he did this job a while back.
As always any and all help is appreciated.

Peter

Its pretty easy to replace the seals. do you have a 280 or 290.
I have the seal driver for a 290. You need to pressure/ vacuum check for a leak after you install the seals and refill. I am told that they don't take/seal about 10% of the time. You might be in for more as the shafts were and sometimes need to be repaired or replaced.
