With the deposit placed on my new engine I'll need to do something with my existing engine. It is the AQAD 40B with approximately 3600 hours on it. Runs good, only problem is that it doesn't stop running! I believe it needs a new stop selenoidthere a little surface rust in some areas. It is in the boat now and I plan to remove it within a month. It is paired up with the duoprop outdrive however, the lower gear and shaft are not good. This engine would push the 26 billfisher at 15 knots cruise @3300 RPM. There is a very new pair of A-7's (repitched to A6 by SD Propellers) with it. I'm looking for $1500 for the whole thing.

Is the outdrive a 280DP with the electric up and down, or a 290DP with hydraulic tilt and trim?
Will the gauge panel and wiring harness be part of the package?
I'll ask around to see if I can find a new home for it.

Thanks for that info Kevin. Not mad at it, I just didn't realize that the used engines could go for that much.

[QUOTE=yellowfin1]Thanks for that info Mike, as I recall I placed adds in The San Diego Log and the Trader Publications(San Diego and Orange Counties). The young guys(2) that bought it used a wood prefabricated support and a rented 3000lb. hoist. After it was disconnected,we moved the boat under the hoist. The boat was moved and the engine placed in their pickup. They got it done in 3to4hrs.A new engine as you know runs $16000. kevin

Kevin,
I've been out of town for a few days. That's why I didn't reply sooner. Thanks for that info. Thanks to Brian (Old Blue) I've got a pallet with engine mounts on it for the engine. The plan is to lift the enging into my truck then ??? I guess I have to find a buyer soon or I will have to set it in the garage until I can find a buyer.
Later, Scott

Dave, measure you engine box to see if you have enough room for a diesel. The box on my 23' is 30 1/2" by 50 1/2" long. Any smaller than that and it won't fit without doing some serious mods. Your mounts may also be in a different location.

Hear is a photo of the 40B we dropped in Old Blue last year.

Anyone who might be interested. The AD40B Volvo diesel engine is still available but, the price is now $1200. Needs a stop selenoid and some cleaning/paint. Other than that should be good for a few thousand more hours.
