Any of you guys have any recommendations on life rafts? I'm looking for on (carry-on) that is fair priced and decent quality. Four person size would be fine. After seeing the movie "Open Water" I started thinking about it. The movie sucked but, sure makes you think. I loved the part where the husband and wife were arguing while sharks are frenzying all around them. She ends up giving him the silent treatment (Ha!). I've seen some cool ones at the boat show but, most seem to be big $$$.

I talked to Steve Blackman this morning and they are putting Switlics on some boats in a rescue pod

Thanks Charlie,
I plan to inquire about prices from these guys as well as the costs associated with servicing them. Sure seems like an important investment if the kids will be riding along.

I'll bet the kids would think it's an important investment even when they are not along!

You got a point there Brian. For me it's always been about "where that $1000+ goes". New tronics, paint, accessories, home improvement? Yep a lifeboat probably should be higher on everybodies list that fishes more than a few miles off of the coast. The life raft is such a basic life saving device. Then there's the other stuff like EPIRB's, hand held VHF's and things like that. Wow, pretty soon you need a big yacht like a Riviera just to carry it all.
Thanks for the perspective.
