The fuel around here was $3.29 this weekend.
I just noticed that the Shell around my house was $2.79. May be it will come down this weekend even lower.

I bought several 5 gal jugs from WalMart for $6 that are normally $12. they are Blue and stamped for Kerosene.
The Boats US add that came this week has a similar one for $12.
I'll call the Truck Stop for a price on Red but looks like codding might not be so expensive after all.

Has anyone noticed that the diesel lately is a bright florescent green lately? I hope it's better fuel.

When Biobor is added the algae turns flouresant and then sticks to the side of your tank!

How nice, at least 50 cent difference in taxes and they only knock off 24 cents. I guess you have to make your 9 Billion somewhere!

Transportation Fuel Tax Rates for 2004

Federal and State Excise Tax Rates
In Cents Per Gallon (except as noted)
(additional State and Local Sales Taxes Also Apply)

FUEL_____Federal ExciseTax____CA State Excise Tax_____Total Excise Tax

Gasoline_____18.4________________18_______________ ______36.4

Diesel Fuel___24.4________________18_____________________ 42.4

Notes:
The following diesel fuel applications are exempt from excise taxes: From federal excise tax: farming; state government; non-profit educational organizations; school buses; intracity buses; intercity buses are exempt from 17 cents per gallon and railroads are exempt from 20 cents per gallon of the tax. From state excise tax: non-highway use; farming; foreign governments; exported out of state; public transit; school buses; railroads.

The way I understand the note, we still pay the 24.4 cent fed tax but don't pay the 18 cent state tax on the RED dye. Through in 8% sales tax and your close to 50 cents in taxes per gallon.

Thanks Mike, I thought we were paying over 75 cents tax on road diesel and I never knew the state was the only exemption on red dye. That explains it!

PS - I looked it up and there is no tax on fuel siphoned from Rivieras or Uniflites :D

I was thinking about putting down "Riviera fuel" as my wild card fish next year. Two points a gallon sounds fair.

That bright green color is from all the extra cash the oil refineries are forced to deal with.
I paid 2.57 for red-dye in Wilmington two weeks ago.

I'm just glad I can fill up my F-150 for under $100 again.

I tried to get the Mrs. to let me upgrade to a used 29' that Steve has at the yard. "But honey... it gets 4.5 m/pg, we can use it all the time!!!" Yeah that didn't fly very far...

I filled up in TJ on Friday for $3.09 a gallon.
Very easy to siphon into 5 gallon jugs for the Hijole.

Been usin Mex. diesel fuel for years now. Usually cross at Otay, the fuel station, taco stand and tortilla stand are less than a mile across the border and the line back is much, much shorter. Check it out on Google Earth!! I strap a 50 gal. tank in the back of my truck and have had zero problems. Two months ago I paid $2.77/ Gal., price must of bumped up?? I also have a SOCO commercial fuel card which I can use up here but its only a .30 to .40/ cents/ Gal. savings and the prices aren't quite their yet.

Actually I also go into Otay. I go to the station just west of the entrance. It's a large station for big trucks. They claim to have a special filtering system. It's about 10 miles from my house and since I have the SENTRI pass it's no problem getting back fast.
The last time we had diesel at $5 here I heard the US would not allow trucks to bring fuel in auxiliary tanks.
