Hi,
Does anybody know what the rudder bushing is made out of in a straight shaft boat?
It is a custom piece, unavailable (to the best of my knowledge).
I had a friend make my last one out of PTFE. But I looked in the box the other day, while underway, and it looked like it was already worn out.
I think my other choices are Delrin or acetal copolymer but I'm not sure.
Any help?

Thanks,

Peter

RUDDER bushing.
The rudder comes through the keel, then through the packing and finally through a bracket which holds the bushing. Then the steer cylinder attaches to the top of the rudder.
While I'm at it, has anybody re-packed their rudder?
How difficult was it? Did they have to remove the bracket?

Thanks,

Peter

I checked with John @ Blackman's; you're right, each bushing is custom. They could probably help you with the material.
