Spent the first few hours working the paddies 15 miles off Del Mar for 3 dorado. When the wind looked like it was going to come up I beat it back to Torry Pines to work the sand for a halibut.
On the way in I crossed over a nice hard spot and picked up a couple reds and a bacaccio for the fish fry later in the week.
On the beach the first bait down gets bit by the right kind but it came up a little short. A couple sandbass round out the first drift. I reset a little south for a second drift and start cleaning the fish I had in the box. I look up to see line peeling off my penn 500 at an alarming rate.
I get the boat started, reeling the other rods and commence the chase. 20 minutes later I pull a #21 yellow over the rail. That little #6 trap rigged treble hook got a good load test today.
