I don't know if I should be praising Zack for finding fish when the rest of us can't, or chewing him out for keeping the last 3 legal halibut in San Diego county.
I saw Dan from "To The Limit" doing his morning walk along the bay and he told me they worked the 50'-80' range for no fish on Saturday. With that happy news I didn't know if I should head up the beach to Torrey Pines or work a little shallower off PB. On the way through PB, I metered some bait in 40' so I thought that would be as good of place as any to set up.
There was no wind at 9am so I resorted to the power drifting and picked up 2 shorts right away. I got a call from Phil on the Knott Know and told him the area was looking good. He came on out and set up just North of me and that must have shut the bite down. I only managed 1 more short and a couple of sandbass from the area before calling it a day around 1PM.
