Thread: Trailer repair

  1. #1

    Default Trailer repair

We had to replace all four of my leaf springs this weekend. All four sets had broken clean through the first three springs. Has anyone had this problem ?

This trailer is six years old, its almost never used, its never seen a rough road.

    I don't get it

Wow Russ. I have never had that happened during the 20 years plus of
trailering. You might want to call the mfg. and have them check it out.

I think the added weight of going to 4-6 volt batteries did you in.

I have seen trucks loose all their leafs at once (or almost instantaneously). Off road truck running rear leaf suspension will occasionally bust through all (or most) of their leaf pack.

Maybe it is a kind of domino effect where one compromised leaf places unacceptable pressure on the rest of the pack.

I'm just guessing. Sorry about your trailer. That REALLY sucks.

I wonder if the metal on the springs are now recycled beer cans.

Tell Manu Lani to take to take all his diving belt weights and gear off next time he comes out certainly regular fishing gear doesn't weigh that much!
